  • After being sworn in as the first female Governor of Iowa, Gov. Kim Reynolds discusses her rural upbringing as well as her policy priorities on taxes, energy, education, and workforce development.

  • In an Op-Ed for CNN, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) advocates for limited US military intervention in the Middle East.

  • President Trump announces the country's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord.

Recent Legislation:

  • S 722: This bill imposes sanctions upon individuals contributing to Iran’s ballistic missiles program as well as individuals in Russia engaging in activities undermining the security of other nations.

  • HR 10: The passed Financial CHOICE Act would repeal, reduce, and introduce new regulations for financial institutions and government entities.

  • CA AB 1578: California House members voted to pass a bill that would prohibit California law enforcement from assisting federal law enforcement in marijuana law enforcement activities.

  • IL SB 81: This bill would create a plan for raising the minimum wage in the state of Illinois to $15/hour by 2022.

  • NV AB 374: This bill has received national attention for its plan to drastically expand the number of Nevada residents eligible for Medicaid.

Elections & Ballot Measures:

  • Jimmy Gomez (D), who passed our Political Courage Test, was elected to the US House of Representatives for California's 34th District.

  • Karen Handel (R) defeated Jon Ossoff (D) for US House of Representatives in Georgia District 6.

  • South Carolina US House of Representatives District 5 elected Ralph Norman (R), who did not take the Political Courage Test. His opponents Victor Kocher (L), David Kulma (G), and Archie Parnell (D) passed our test.

  • Kevin Vaughan (R) won the Tennessee special election for State House District 95.

  • South Carolina State House Districts 48 and 70 held special elections. Bruce Bryant (R) and Wendy Brawley (D) won their respective races.

  • Jon Jacobsen (R) won the special election for Iowa State House District 22.

  • Virginia State House held 24 special primaries, click here for the results.

  • New Hampshire held special primaries for State Senate District 16. David Boutin (R), Kevin Cavanaugh (D), and Jason Dubrow (L) will face off in the general election.

  • Philip Murphy (D) and Kim Guadagno (R) won their respective gubernatorial primaries in New Jersey and will head to the general election.

  • Virginia held primaries for Governor and Lt. Governor; Ed Gillespie (R) and Ralph Northam (D) will continue their bid for Governor while Justin Fairfax (D) and Jill Vogel (R) will face off for the role of Lt. Governor.
